Labelings > How do you feel when you're called a mom by someone other than your own kids?

When my husband would call me Mommy when my son wasn't around, it kinda creeped me out. I finally asked him to not do it. I felt like he had now put me into a "catagory" instead of being a person!

When my husband calls me mommy I want to hit him int he head with a frying pan! When my friends daughter calls me mommy, I find it sweet. When my child calls my friend mommy, I want to cry,

I'm used to my daughter's friends calling me mommy. They seem to do it more and more as they become teenagers, which seems odd to me, but it's fine. My husband never calls me mommy, although I refer to him as daddy when it's in the context of talking about the kids...never as a "pet name" or anything like that, though. yech!

I feel better about being called mommy than being called grandma. I got called my kids grandmother when my youngest was a newborn. Combine that with post-partum hormones and the teenager that did it is lucky to have lived to the end of the day.
