Question of the Week | July 16th

What’s happened to your marketability as an employee?

This is a hot one for many of us, and I just talked about it with one of my girlfriends this past weekend.  There’s no doubt that having kids affects how you’re treated in most workplaces, and the treatment varies widely I think. My friend knew she’d been passed over because of her mom duties, and that’s a widespread problem.  I also just saw an article on some parents being able to take their kids to work for the first 6 months or so, putting cribs in their workspaces!  How has your career been affected?  Does it bother you?  Are you afraid of the “10-year-nap” and waking up from it to a different workforce and not knowing how you fit in?

So, just come on over to the Labelings section and share your thoughts, so we can know we’re not alone!

The members who’ve already shared their thoughts will be entered in the drawing also, but don’t count towards the 7 answers needed.

TO ANSWER: Click here to share your thoughts on moms and careers, and you’ll be counted in this week’s drawing for a prize!  You’ll just need to click the Create a New Post button to add your goal to the list.  Don’t forget, we need at least 7 answers to have a drawing!

Question of the Week | July 9th

Name that goal!

Have a project or a goal that you want encouragement on?  Shedding pounds?  Cleaning closets?  Getting more exercise?  Finding the bottom of that photo box?  Come share it with us, and let’s get each other a bit more inspired!  I could sure use it myself, as I’m working on one of my life goals this summer (running a marathon) and it’s got me a bit freaked out at times.  It’s really hard to maintain enthusiasm and energy on long goals especially, and making ourselves accountable to others in some way often helps to move them along.  The more people I tell about what I’m doing, the less likely I am to quit :).

So, just come and name your goal in the Goal Sharing section, and if there’s a time/date attached to it (it helps!!) then let us know that too.  Then we can all share in your ideas and your successes, and know that we’re not alone in our struggles to get things done

The members who’ve already posted goals will be entered in the drawing also, but don’t count towards the 7 answers needed.

TO ANSWER: Click here to name your goal, and you’ll be counted in this week’s drawing for a prize!  You’ll just need to click the Create a New Post button to add your goal to the list.  Don’t forget, we need at least 7 answers to have a drawing!

Question of the Week | June 30th + 3

Who are you?
The member cafe is sadly lacking in members, and we’d like to know who you are!  This week’s question is simple … who are you?  Just introduce yourself in the Member Cafe, and you’ll be counted for the prize drawing this week. Just a few lines about who you are and who you parent are all we’re looking for. We have a great variety of moms here on SaneMoms, and while we can piece posts together to figure out more about each other, it’s nice to have a place to see us all at one time!

The members who’ve already introduced themselves will be entered in the drawing also, but don’t count towards the 7 answers needed. That’s right, 7!  Time to get a few more of you involved :).

Question of the Week | June 23rd

Has your personality changed since you had kids?

It seems that taking care of kids is a more radical shift for some of us than others, and for me it’s meant a gradual but significant personality shift.  I’ve become more relaxed and accepting of things in many ways, and learned certain types of patience that I never had to call on before.  To be honest there are new levels of impatience also, which drive me nuts.  My boys sure know how to push my buttons!  I think I’ve become less of a multi-tasker and more of a one-thing-at-a-time kind of gal, at least most of the time.  I’m also probably more outwardly focused than before, being a mom just plain requires it!  Have you noticed any shifts?  New traits or feelings?  Please take a moment to think it over and let us know.

TO ANSWER: Click here to share your answer, and you’ll be counted in this week’s drawing for a prize!  Don’t forget, we need at least 5 answers to have a drawing!

Question of the Week | June 16th

What do you say to people who offer unsolicited (and often unwelcome!) advice on how to raise your kids?

You’re a rare mom if you’ve never had someone tell you something about how you should raise your kids.  Often for me it’s people telling me that I shouldn’t let my kids go barefoot outside, or saying they need to wear a hat.  I just say they’re fine, but get a bit irritated.  Often they mean well, but 95% of the time it’s a matter of preference, not ignorance on my part.  Perhaps you have a favorite answer ready when you’re offered such a gem, or just the one that you wish you’d said the last time someone told you how to take care of your own child? I’m the queen of coming up with answers 5 blocks later :). Any crazy comments that made your blood start to boil?  Do tell!

TO ANSWER: Click here to post your answer, and you’ll be counted in this week’s drawing for a prize!  Don’t forget, we need at least 5 answers to have a drawing!

ListPlanIt.comPRIZE: A one year membership to ListPlanIt.com, thanks to Jennifer at ListPlanIt!  Get as many lists as you want, there are over 300 to choose from, and you’ll get product discounts also! If you’re not a list-lover yourself, I can bet you know one :).

DEADLINE: Sunday the 22nd of June at midnight EST.

Question of the Week | June 9th

How did you cope with the first few weeks and months after childbirth?
Did you have help? Fly solo? Feel overwhelmed? PPD? Baby blues? Did you get the help you needed, or just slog through it? Trouble saying no to too many visitors? Those first few months are so incredibly hard, and the traditions surrounding birth and newborn care have changed drastically in the last few generations, at least in North America.  Few of us are giving birth in situations anything like what we were born into ourselves, so we don’t have the same traditions to follow (or reject!). Love to hear your thoughts!

TO ANSWER: Click here to share your answer, and you’ll be counted in this week’s drawing for a prize!  Don’t forget, we need at least 5 answers to have a drawing!

bookPRIZE: 2 pair of great baby socks from a mom-run biz called Couplets Socks, “The socks that stay together”!  A great gift for a new mom, or for your own little one (up to 18 months).

DEADLINE: Sunday the 15th of June at midnight EST.
