What are you thankful for?

I’m not sure I could ask anything else this week, other than what are you thankful for?  It’s American Thanksgiving, and I went on about the subject of general thankfulness a few days ago, so it’s hard not to ask … can you share 5 things you’re thankful for this week?  Here are the first 5 that pop into my head …

  • I’m thankful that my parents stopped by last weekend, as I typically get a bit depressed this week because I can’t go be with my family for the holiday like we always used to do.  It was fabulous to see them!
  • I’m thankful for a new camera that I can play with endlessly and is super easy to use.  I’m loving it :).
  • I’m thankful for two crazy delightful and endlessly inventive boys, who I’m learning to appreciate more and correct a little less.
  • I’m thankful that my husband’s had lots of work the last few weeks, and has more scheduled for the next month or so too.
  • I’m thankful for great books to read, and a comfy bed in which to devour them.

As for plans for Thanksgiving itself, what’s on your schedule, if you’re celebrating this week?  We can’t make the trip from NY to St. Louis where my family gathers, but will really enjoy getting together with my aunt and uncle who live less than 2 miles from us.  Minimal travel, great company, and all I have to bring is a pumpkin pie, which I’ll be making the GF way this year.  I plan to bring some GF biscuts too, so Douglas and I have something to carry the requisite mounds of butter and gravy that will need to be sopped up.

1. Being a mom, including the joy it has brought and the things it has taught me
2. My family and the fact that every night when we go to sleep and every morning when we wake up, we all love each other
3. Baking and the smell of baking
4. Hearing just the right song at the right time, often resulting in a good healthy cry
5. That for at least another holiday, all the grandparents are healthy and still here for their grandkids to get to know them

Thanks Christina!
Karin : That cry thing, oh I get it ... today it was an old Peruvian woman at the flea market telling me "El Senor lo bendiga" as I said goodbye. Took me back so far that I nearly melted on the spot.

1. I'm thankful for all my friends, even the ones who are making me want to beat them with wet noodles.

2. Thankful for my dog and his impeccable behavior over the holidays. He's an irresistible attraction and if he weren't so tolerant I'd be in debt and in jail by now.

3. That my friend N came to the city for the whole Thanksgiving week and helped me clean my whole house and deal with my kitchen leak and was happy to be there anyway, maybe especially because she could help.

4. For leftovers. I love Thanksgiving food and I was incurably happy stuffing my face with leftovers all day long yesterday.

5. The internet. It is awesome and it brought me you.

@Kizz, that's a great list, and yes to #5, so glad! Re #4, that's the part I really miss about not being the cook, but hey you can't have it all ... I did manage to bring home a chunk of the pumpkin pie I made and devoured it for breakfast though.
