Summer Doldrums ...
It would appear that most of you are on vacation, or otherwise occupied at the moment … so I’m leaving last week’s Question of the Week contest open until we get 7 responses! Great mom-blog post ... Mom Entitlement!
Ran across this today, thanks to OMSH who I love reading, and it’s a great post on Mom Entitlement by Mrs. Flinger.
“Something clicked one day while watching one of those “news” shows (Dateline? Something?) which featured a successful mom earning a night out. “She makes breakfast for her teen son, works 9-5 and rewards herself at night with parties and cocktail bars!” The mom comes on the air explaining how rewarding yourself is the best gift you can give your child. It’s the best for everyone, really. You work hard, go enjoy life! So she justified her nightly parties by her 30 minutes of morning routine with her 15 year old son.”

 What’s happened to your marketability as an employee?This is a hot one for many of us, and I just talked about it with one of my girlfriends this past weekend. There’s no doubt that having kids affects how you’re treated in most workplaces, and the treatment varies widely I think. My friend knew she’d been passed over because of her mom duties, and that’s a widespread problem. I also just saw an article on some parents being able to take their kids to work for the first 6 months or so, putting cribs in their workspaces! How has your career been affected? Does it bother you? Are you afraid of the “10-year-nap” and waking up from it to a different workforce and not knowing how you fit in?So, just come on over to the Labelings section and share your thoughts, so we can know we’re not alone! Help us get more moms to join!
We didn’t get enouggoals shared last week for me to pick a prize winner, so please … can every single one of you find another mom that could benefit from SaneMoms, and get her to join up? It would make things a lot livelier around here! I have some things planned that will make the site more interactive, and will unveil those sometime next month. In the meantime, let’s get moving :).
Thanks to those who shared their goals, it’s great to see what you’re up to and what keeps you moving! Let us know how it goes. I’m muddling along in my running goal over here, and taking it one morning at a time … it gets hard a lot of the time!

Quick Update
Hi moms,
Sorry to be MIA for a few days! I’ve been moving to MA for the summer, and going a bit crazy with all the details of leaving my house in the care of strangers, packing for 2 months, and keeping my kids sane in the process (let alone me!). My sanity was in question but I’m starting to get it back :).
I’ll get a newsletter out later today, and thanks for your patience. There weren’t enough answers in time to give a prize this week, and I hope my kids don’t find the prize before I send it out next week!
