The primary reason is to keep spam out, which is a huge pain to remove.  Also, it’s just plain nice to know who’s talking when we’re sharing stories.  You won’t be hounded by sanemoms.com, or any 3rd parties.  The occasional admin email is likely, and we mean very occasional.  Thanks for understanding!
